SCORPION BUILT THIS CARBON MODULAR DIFFERENTLY.
Share
Scorpion EXO has a new modular helmet coming, and there’s one thing about it that immediately caught our attention:
They left something out on purpose.
The new Covert FX Carbon Modular skips the internal drop-down sun visor found in many modular helmets.
Why?
Because Scorpion wanted to reduce the weight, bulk and size that riders often associate with modular helmets.
Instead of building around more mechanisms and more moving parts, the Covert FX Carbon Modular takes a more focused approach: carbon construction, a smaller profile and modular convenience without trying to be everything to everybody.
And the rest of the package is pretty interesting.
THE QUICK HITS
- 3K carbon-fiber main shell
- Approx. 3.4 lbs. in size medium
- ECE 22.06 P/J homologated
- DOT certified
- Clear and Dark Smoke shield included
- Pinlock insert included
- Optional photochromic shield
- Dedicated EXOCOM Bluetooth communication port
- MSRP: $439.95
The P/J homologation is an important one. The helmet is approved in both its closed protective configuration and its open modular configuration.
It’s also designed to accept Scorpion’s new EXOCOM communication system directly through a dedicated side port. Once installed, the unit locks securely into place without a clip or adhesive mount stuck to the outside of the helmet. EXOCOM systems offer audio by Harman and has options for two - or - four rider communication.
So no, this helmet probably isn’t for the rider who absolutely has to have an internal sun visor.
But for riders looking for a light weight, clean, lower-profile modular with strong certifications, integrated communications capability and a lot included in the box, this one may be worth a closer look.
Targeting December availability.
