Way back when Bob Fox designed and manufactured his first motorcycle shocks in 1974, he sought a performance edge on his motocross-racing competitors. Fox Factory was born from his efforts. Today, the company that Bob built serves racers and enthusiasts alike. Among them, speed freaks in the motorcycle, snowmobile, off-road, and mountain bike realms.

While Bob Fox tackled motocross suspension at the track, Perry Sands navigated a challenging venture of his own: fatherhood. His son Roland Sands was born in `74 and was practically weaned on motor oil. Perry founded Performance Machine and Roland Sands came up not just in the custom V-twin side of the industry, he went on to a successful racing career too. After retiring from the track, Roland started his own custom motorcycle shop, Roland Sands Design. Now his company is one of the most successful V-twin parts makers in the industry. When Roland looked for a top suspension company to team up with, Fox Factory got the nod.

Sands chose the raised 13.5” length, relying on Fox’s advanced high-flow, deflective speed-sensitive damping.
