QUESTIONED: Pete Pearson

Place: Wiltshire, UK  Handle: @rocketbobs  URL: http://www.rocketbobs.biz

What do you do for money?

I work full time at Rocket Bobs Cycle Works, a company I started with my wife back in 2009.

How did you get into motorcycles?

I grew up around car shops and was always surrounded by lots of different types of vehicles, but I discovered bikes at a very young age and have been smitten ever since. I started riding when I was around seven.

What was your first motorcycle?

My first motorcycle was a Fanticmotor 50cc and my first ground up build was a Moto Martin CBX in 1981.

What do you currently ride?

A TP-Engine powered mongrel of a motorcycle.

What is your all-time favorite motorcycle?

It has to be a ’79 FXS Lowrider.

What attracted you to motorcycles?

I think what initially attracted me to motorcycles was that when I was young they seemed much more fun and manageable than cars,, and you could ride them round the coastal cliffs (much of my youth was spent in Cornwall, UK) which you couldn’t do in a car!

What do you like about riding motorcycles?

Everything! The acceleration, speed, cornering. I love when you get into a fluid state when everything is just flowing. And when you are doing a long ride you just become switched off from day to day life.

How have motorcycles changed your life?

They pretty much are my life. I have always been surrounded by motorcycles and so don’t know any different, but I imagine life would be pretty boring without them.

Who or what have you gained inspiration from?

Growing up around Cornwall, much of my inspiration comes from surfing culture, Street Rodder magazine and Dog Town articles.

What has changed your life for the better?

Meeting my wife, Lisa, and starting Rocket Bobs together. My whole family is quite artistic but frustratingly I can’t draw. So instead I have found a way to express myself in metal which I find very satisfying.

What has changed your life for the worse?

Moving away from the sea which I really miss. And the British weather which is fucking shit! I would love to be able to live in a place where you have year round riding,, the three days of summer we get here can be a bit depressing.

Any other statements or slander you would like the world to know?

You will never please all the people all the time…. Just do your own thing and be happy while doing it.
