Design Engineering Inc (DEI) joins us as an official sponsor of the V-Twin Visionary Sturgis Smash ride. They’re outfitting the Laidlaw’s Harley-Davidson Softail Street Bob with a ton of their great products.

The late Dale Markley, well known and long time performance industry veteran, founded DEI in 1995. Dale and his wife Nancy formed the company with a vision of developing dynamic solutions for the racing and performance industry’s ongoing struggle with under-hood, power-robbing heat issues. The business started in a small space, located in Cleveland, Ohio, behind a convenience store. Within a few years they needed double the space. Before Dale’s passing in 2001, he and Nancy brought DEI and its “Thermal Tuning Products” to a whole new level.

Now, Design Engineering offers products like this Black Titanium Exhaust Wrap. Designed with LR Technology, it’s made from pulverized lava rock. The rock is stranded into a fiber material woven into a proprietary weave. Black Titanium wrap is engineered to be stronger than most wraps and more durable for improved thermal performance and reliability. Additionally, it’s designed to be pliable and resistant to chemical oil spills and vibration breakdown. The wrap secures tightly without pre-wetting and withstands direct heat up to 1800°F and intermittent heat up to 2500°F.

Today, DEI is bigger, stronger, and “cooler” than ever. With Dale’s son David at the helm, the family continues Dale’s vision of moving DEI forward by developing and improving products to ensure they remain industry leaders.
